There are three reasons why you may get this message.
If you are checking for status after the IRS opening date, typically late January, then you must allow at least 1 business day to check to see if your tax return has been accepted. Once you’re return has been Acknowledged “A” – you must allow up to 21 days for the IRS to fund.
If you claimed children on your tax return and have refundable child-related tax credits, the IRS will not release those refunds until after Feb 15th. The PATH Act mandates IRS Federal refunds be issued on tax returns claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit before February 15 even if you were acknowledged/accepted “A” in January.
However, if your return was acknowledged/accepted “A” after Feb 15 th , you can expect to receive your refund within 21 days from your acknowledged/accepted “A” date.
The IRS has up to 21 days from the date your federal return has been acknowledged/accepted “A”. If you came in early January and your return was accepted early as part of “Hub” testing with the IRS, you would begin counting 21 days starting from the IRS opening date. However, if you filed your taxes after the IRS opening date, then you can simply count 21 days from the date your federal return was acknowledged/accepted “A”.
If you have waited more than 21 days after the applicable date, your return could be delayed due to technical issues at the IRS processing center or your return may be under review. In that case, you should contact the IRS at 1-800-289-1040 to get more details as to why your tax return has been delayed.
When you initially file your tax return with ATC, our tool will be able to provide an acknowledgement confirmation before it is updated on IRS “Where’s my Refund?” page. This is because it may take up to 3-5 days for the return to update on the IRS website.
You can get your full Federal and State return status with ATC Refund Status tool. Our tool will not provide a deposit date in advance; however, once your return is funded by the IRS or State, if you went through our bank, our system will update with the deposit date and net amount available.
IRS “Where’s my Refund” will only provide status of your federal refund, not sate.
Generally speaking, doing direct deposit will certainly speed up the process (i.e. it’s much faster than doing a paper return or an e-file check mailed to your residence/return address).
If you opted to go through our bank partner, with no out-of-pocket fees to prepare and process your tax return, your refund is released the same day the IRS funds your return. This means
after the IRS DD has hits our bank; our bank will turn-around and immediately do a direct deposit into your account. Depending on how your bank processes ACH payments, it may take 24-48 hours to see the funds in your account.
If you elected to load your tax refund on our “Faster Money Card” – the funds would be available the same day the IRS DD hits our bank.
If you haven’t already filed your taxes this year, it’s possible to get a refund advance on your anticipated tax refund with one of our tax-related loan products. Our EasyMoney Loan and ATC Bonus can put cash in your pocket the same day! Get more info here Refund Advance
However, if you’ve already filed your tax return and did not apply for one of our loan products, you would have to wait for the IRS and State to fund your tax return.
